There is no question that having a stroke will mean that you must change, relearn or redefine how you live. But recovery is attainable. Rehabilitation will not reverse the effects of a stroke but it can build your strength, capability and confidence so you can continue to live meaningfully and fully, despite the effects of your stroke.
For Sean it took 5 years to recover physically and train for a ride across America. Like many stroke survivors, it included thankless hours on a stationary bike – he made those hours count. But the best advice Sean can give you and your family is to NOT have a stroke. Practice prevention including getting a Carotid Artery Scan.
